ABSTRACT
Introduction and objective:
Adaptogens are plant raw materials or substances of plant origin. The purpose of supplementation with adaptogens is the protection of the body against stress, the effects of negative stimuli, and adaptation of the body to the conditions prevailing in the environment. The aim of the study was to analyze the frequency of the use of supplements based on plant adaptogens, and to assess their impact on the psychophysical well-being of users.

Material and methods:
The survey was conducted in 2022 in a group of 300 Poles – 76% of females and 24% of males. The respondents replied to the author-constructed questionnaire concerning the frequency of use of supplements based on plant adaptogens and the assessment of the impact of supplementation on their psychophysical well-being. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS version 23 and the Excel spreadsheet. The relationship between variables on nominal scales was investigated by means of chi-square test for independence, with the level of significance set at p = 0.05, but remaining in relation to the respondents’ age (p = 0.05).

Results:
Professional status exerted a significant effect on the regularity of taking supplements (p<0.05). Nearly twothirds of the study participants admitted that by using supplements based on plant adaptogens they felt a better overall functioning of the body, while 42.3% of respondents indicated an improvement in concentration, and 36% of them mentioned an increase in vitality.

Conclusions:
The use of adaptogens has a beneficial effect on improving concentration and memory, better functioning of the body, increase in vitality, reduction of perceived stress, and better appearance of the skin.
